Optical Brinell hardness measurement

Read every indentation the same way, every time.

PixHardness measures Brinell indentations from camera images, calculates hardness and gives a pass/fail result, so the reading no longer depends on who looks through the eyepiece.

D1D2 d = (D1 + D2) / 2 HBW 10/3000 PASS
Illustration: two perpendicular diameters, averaged into one hardness value.

Why labs move from the eyepiece to the camera

Hardness depends directly on the indentation size, and the indentation edge is rarely sharp. Small reading differences become large hardness differences.

Operator-to-operator variation

With a 10 mm ball at 3000 kgf, reading 4.10 mm instead of 4.00 mm changes the result from about 229 to 217 HBW. Each operator places the edge slightly differently.

Manual steps and transcription

Measure two diameters, average them, look up the table, write the value down, type it again into a report. Every step takes time and invites errors.

Records you can show

Image-based measurement keeps the annotated image, the values and the statistics together, ready for an Excel report and for audits.

The Optical Brinell Measuring System

Developed and supported directly by NEXTAOI, a Korean machine vision software company.

Hardware + software

Complete measuring system

Digital camera, lens, illumination and measurement software in one system. It finds the indentation automatically, measures two perpendicular diameters and calculates HBW with a pass/fail judgment.

Free trial

Try the software today

The XTMeasure-HB software trial runs on Windows with sample images or your customers' own indentation photos, no camera required.

Why partner with us

Proven measurement engine

Our image measurement software has been delivered to major manufacturers and research institutes in Korea.

Direct access to the developers

You work with the team that writes the software. Technical questions and customer requests reach the developers, not a call center.
